Mexico: New Anti-Corruption Law

 

On June 12, 2012, Mexico's Congress passed the Federal Procurement Anti-Corruption Law (Ley Federal Anticorrupción en Contrataciones Públicas – ACPL), a significant step in adopting legislation to combat corruption and ensure adherence to international conventions.  The move follows a period of intense international scrutiny of the government's practices regarding bribes and other practices in the wake of a high profile paperwork and permit scandal involving Walmart.
