Mergers and acquisitions are integral to the globalization process, and they have obvious implications for the workforce of the companies involved. When mergers fail to deliver the desired outcome from a profitability perspective, the problems are often due to HR-related issues. This is particularly true when an international dimension is involved and the acquirer is not aware of obligations regarding employees and their related liabilities.
In this paper, HSP explores three areas worthy of close attention during the M&A process. Also included is a useful checklist for pre-merger due diligence and post-merger communications and integration.
